Adults should drink at least 1.5 litres of fluid per day - 3 litres are even better. There are many reasons to drink tap water. We have put the five best ones on a flyer:
Drinking tap water saves money. Because while still bottled water costs an average of 70 cents per litre, you only pay an average of 0.5 cents per litre for tap water in Germany. A 3-person household can save over 1000€ per year by switching to tap water. What could you do with the money? Drinking tap water reduces CO2 emissions, and not just by a small amount. Unchilled, still tap water has up to 586 times fewer emissions than bottled water. When comparing sparkling and chilled water, tap water still has 49 times fewer emissions than bottled water. Drinking tap water reduces plastic waste, because there are no plastic bottles. But tyre wear, which is produced during the transport of bottled water, is also plastic waste. More specifically: Microplastic waste. Tap water, on the other hand, is totally modern - namely unpackaged and therefore waste-free. Those who drink tap water can quench their thirst around the clock. Because water comes out of the tap at all times. In times of Corona, this is not only a convenient luxury, but also by far the best choice. Anyone who drinks tap water knows what's in it. This is because tap water is subject to the strict limits of the Drinking Water Ordinance and is therefore of top quality. It is regularly checked for 56 different substances. Bottled water, on the other hand, only has to comply with 16 limit values. |
